Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Beeler Greetings – Intelligently Pushing the Envelope of What a Greeting Card Can Be.

Los Angeles, CA, May 7, 2004 – Beeler Productions announces the launch of its new division: Beeler Greetings. Beeler Greetings publishes cool, funny, cleanly designed, printed greeting cards that make you smile – if not laugh – or move you in some way. The company aims to bring humor, beauty or something a little provocative to people’s personal life, work life, secret life, love life or “life-life”.

Beeler greeting cards are photography-based and offer a distinctive sense of humor in a new, electric, hip and exciting way. The cards currently on the market cover different categories such as birthdays, romance, good luck, inspirational, thank-you and holidays. 160 new designs are ready to be developed and published in order to expand the line. The cards are currently available at www.beelergreetings.com for retail. Soon, they will be available for wholesale and in select stores across the US.

Witty, intelligent, sometimes wacky, sometimes sexy, Beeler Greetings is gently pushing the envelope of what a greeting card can be: A cat, in front of a candy store, stares at a gumball machine with gold fish swimming in it: “You Are My Heart’s Desire”; A guy, looking decidedly put out, wears a birthday cake in the way one may wear a sandwich board. A candle on the top of his head, inside: “Blow me”: 2 Penguins on a heart-shaped ice-float: “You – Me”, inside: “Cool”.
The seeds of Beeler Greetings were germinating for some time and took root when the founders, David and Marieke Beeler, set out to buy a birthday card for David’s godson. Faced with the price of $4.85 for a simple card with some glitter, Marieke suggested David make the card himself, as he had done before for other occasions. As a photographer, David had the skills and plenty of images to choose from. The result was a unique birthday and a very excited 8-year old. Beeler Greetings was born.

The American population buys approximately 7 billion greeting cards per year, generating more than $7.5 billion in retail sales. The average greeting card sells for $2.00-$4.00 (Source: Greeting Card Association). The retail price of $2.50 and free shipping within the US to retail customers, together with the unique designs, makes Beeler Greetings competitive with – if not cheaper than – the average greeting card with the added convenience of home or work delivery.

With its cool, funny, hip and clean designed greeting cards, Beeler Greetings intelligently pushes the envelope of what a greeting card can be. The company offers a unique style in greeting cards with a distinctive sense of humor, that can be described as witty, intelligent, sometimes wacky, sometimes sexy. The greeting cards are available at www.beelergreetings.com.

Beeler Photography
David Beeler has been photographing people for 20 years and founded Beeler Photography in 1997 in Los Angeles on moving back to the States from Europe. David does a substantial amount of editorial and commercial photography, specializing as a “people shooter”: headshots, models, musicians and bands, portraits – corporate and personal.

Looking at David’s work, (www.beelerphotography.com) you will see a great range in style. David tries not to impose “his style” on the “subject”, but rather, to find the qualities of the individual, group or product and let that inform how he shoots. Even when working to a brief outlined by an art director for an editorial shoot, or CD cover, David aims to capture the essence of a person in one moment. David has said: “Some tribes in Africa thought that a photograph would capture their soul – and if you’re doing it right, that’s what happens. That’s what I strive for.”

Marieke Beeler handles marketing and digital post-production for Beeler Photography.
